Sales Opportunities
Overview
Sales Opportunities in AugTool allow businesses to record, manage, and track potential sales before they become confirmed sales orders. Opportunities provide a central place to capture prospective customer activity, expected sales, follow-ups, and the progress of an opportunity through the sales process.
Sales Opportunities can be used to monitor potential business from the initial prospect stage through to a successful or unsuccessful outcome.
Creating a Sales Opportunity
A Sales Opportunity can be created to record a potential sale and associate it with the relevant organisation.
When creating an opportunity, capture the available information about the potential sale, including:
- Organisation – The customer or prospective customer associated with the opportunity.
- Sales Person – The person responsible for managing the opportunity.
- Reference – A free field reference of the potential sale.
- Expected Value – The estimated value of the opportunity.
- Expected Date – The expected date on which the opportunity may be converted into a sale.
- Notes – Additional information relevant to the opportunity.
- Tags – Optional classifications that can be used for filtering and reporting.
Tip: Capture as much information as possible when creating the opportunity. This makes it easier for sales staff to track and follow up on potential business.
Managing Sales Opportunities
Once an opportunity has been created, it can be updated as more information becomes available. Keeping opportunities up to date ensures that the sales pipeline accurately reflects current potential business.
Sales Person
A Sales Person can be associated with an opportunity to identify who is responsible for managing the potential sale.
This allows opportunities to be:
- Assigned to individual sales people.
- Filtered by sales person.
- Monitored as part of the sales pipeline.
- Used for sales performance and activity reporting.
Converting an Opportunity into a Sale
When a potential sale is confirmed, the opportunity can progress into the normal sales process.
Depending on the configured workflow, this may involve creating or linking the relevant sales document, such as a:
Sales Opportunity → Quotation → Sales Order → Delivery → Invoice
The exact process may vary depending on the organization's configuration.
Filtering and Searching
Sales Opportunities can be filtered to locate specific opportunities or review groups of opportunities.
Common filtering criteria may include:
- Organisation
- Sales Person
- Status
- Date
- Expected completion date
- Tags
- Opportunity value
Filtering allows users to focus on active opportunities or review historical opportunities.
Summary
Sales Opportunities provide a structured way to capture and manage potential sales before they become confirmed transactions.
By keeping opportunities, responsible sales people, expected values and follow-up information up to date, AugTool provides a clear view of the organization's potential sales pipeline and helps sales teams manage opportunities through to completion.
