Project Management
This is designed to handle the financial management of the project i.e Track costs, documentation and report on profitability. This module does not handle time or resource management.
To use Project Management, the relevant permissions will need to be switched on. Once the permissions are switched on, the Services Tab will appear in the Augtool menu. The Services tab consists of Projects, Project Scope Changes, Project Groups and Partners.
Projects
a) Creation of a Project:
Dates: On creation of a Project the Create date, Estimate Closing Date and Closing Date are defaulted to the current date. However if you change the Estimate Closing date, the Closing date will automatically be adjusted to the Estimate Closing date when posted.
Organisation: You will see two tickboxes when a project is created i.e to allow additional customers or suppliers. If you tick this box the system will allow you to add documents for any supplier or customer. If this box is left unticked then the system will restrict you to only the customers and suppliers specified in the project. The specified customers and suppliers can be added to the Organisation tab in Edit mode.
NB: The system only shows the Organisation tab after a project has been created and posted and then edited.
Partners: Partners are people that are linked to the project. Partners are created under the Partners tab in the Services menu. On creation of a Partner you have the option of linking a Partner to an Organisation or not. Once the partners are created they can be selected when creating a Project.
Restrict Purchases to Budget: This allows you to either restrict purchases to the budget or allow purchases to exceed the budget.
