Warehouse Binning
Binning is a system of assigning stock to a section in a warehouse which allows you to easily locate stock. To use Binning you will first need to switch on the Permissions for Warehouses Binning, Warehouses Binning Rules and Stock Bin Movements. You will also need to switch on the permissions for Packing slips and Picking Slips. Once the permissions are switched this will appear under System > Warehouse Bins and Stock > Packing/Picking slips.
Creating Bins:
a) Enable Warehouse Binning
To select which warehouses you want to use binning in, go to System > Warehouses and activate the warehouses you want to use for binning by clicking "Enable Warehouse Binning".
b) Creating Bin Structure
Creating a bin is similar to how you create the Chart of Accounts. This is created in Warehouse Bins.Â
It allows you to create parents and children and also select if the folder is a group or not. For every child created, the parent for it will be defaulted on the screen.Â
c) Bin Parent - Shows Rules and Children tabs.Â
Rules: Allows you to either allow or deny specific items or item categories. If allowed then only those items or categories will be allowed. If denied then that item or category will be denied. However currently if you have denied an item or category you must then also specify which items or categories should be allowed...a further enhancement to this will soon be carried out by Augtool. Inherited Rules - if the parent is a parent but also a child of another parent then any rules made in the parent's parent will automatically show in Inherited Rules.
Children: This lists all the children under that parent.
d) Bin Children - Shows Rules and Stock tabs:
Rules:Â
This is same as the parent where it allows you o create 'allow' and 'deny' rules and shows the rules inherited from the parent.
Use Limit - this allows you to set a limit quantity of stock in that bin by clicking the tickbox and entering the limit. The limit quantity applies to all items combined and not is not a limit for individual items. Once you have set the rule click submit.
Copy Rules From - this allows you to copy rules from another bin by selecting the bin and clicking 'copy rules'.Â
Stock: Shows stock for each product in that bin. Also shows last 10 stock movements for that bin. Sumen will add Bin Stock Movements.
While the stock tab in the bin shows the last 10 stock movements, all bin stock movements are shown under Stock > Bin Stock Movements.Â
To Receive or Remove from Bins:
Under the Stock menu there's Packing and Picking slips. Stock is only moved in and out from children bins, not parent bins. The Packing slip is used to receive stock and the Picking slip is used to take out stock from a bin. This can also be done in via:
GRV - when the GRV is Received, it will show the Packing slip icon. The packing slip will default to the first bin the item can be binned in. This can be changed by clicking the popup next to the bin and selecting another bin. If there is a max limit set on the bin then an error message will show when posted.
Delivery Note - when the Delivery Note is Posted, it will show the Picking slip icon.Â
Production Run - when the Production Run is Posted, it will show the Picking slip icon
NB: If the Delivery Note is delivered or if the Production Run is completed, it will use unbinned stock. It will only use binned stock when Posted.
